Curtains and Roman Blinds with Trims or Borders

Bespoke Curtains and Roman Blinds with Borders or Trims.

With made-to-measure Curtains and Roman Blinds, adding a border or trim is the opportunity to create something original, unique and stylish.

Contrast Borders:

A border can be added to Roman Blinds, Curtains or Cushions. They highlight a colour or pattern in contrast to the main fabric and can be used to define the edges of Curtains or Roman Blinds. A border can be added to each side of a Blind, or to the sides and top and bottom as well, either with mitred corners or perhaps with a narrower border at the top, a little wider down the sides and wider again across the bottom. There are endless possibilities, time to let your imagination go!

Borders can be useful if the blind needs to be a little wider than one width of the main fabric would allow. The photo above shows a blue border in Romo Linara added to a Designers Guild ‘Trains’ fabric from around 1990 to make a new Roman Blind, both adding a little bit of width needed and framing the fabric beautifully. Romo Linara comes in 360 colours, making it the perfect choice to colour match to create the ideal border or contrast

Trims:

The Samuel & Sons website – www.samuelandsons.com – is a treasure trove of ideas for tapes, braids, fringes, tassels and cords. The photo above shows their Tiverton border added to the leading edge of curtains made from an Ian Mankin Herringbone fabric. The green scallop trim is from Thibaut – www.thibautdesign.com - , hand sewn along the bottom of edge of a Roman Blind made in a ‘waterfall’ style, and a lovely cord trim to the bottom edge of a pelmet in Sanderson Everly Barley.

Please contact us if you would like to add a border or trim to your item, we would be delighted to help you create something with that very special extra touch.
